If you haven’t tried anything from Home Appetit, meet two products that you need in your kitchen now: their alderwood smoked sea salt and mediterranean spice mix.

Why? You can do so many amazing things with your food between the two of them, even when you only have time to cook a simple meal (like roasted veggies and meat).

And both are the creations of Chef Todd Hogan, a recurring guest Chef at New York’s James Beard House, DiRōNA award recipient, restaurateur, Food Network celebrity, and graduate of the  school of culinary arts Johnson & Wales University in Charleston, S.C.

Alderwood Smoked Sea Salt

What we love

  • Made in America! (Washington State, to be exact)
  • Makes people think you used bacon in your dish
  • Large-flaked salt

What to know

  • This salt isn’t white! The smoking gives it a, well, smoky gray-brown color.

You kind of have to smell and taste this sea salt to believe it. The flavor and aroma are super distinct, almost magical. If you like being creative in the kitchen, you’ll have endless fun with this one. You might even catch yourself eating it straight from the tin.

Mediterranean spice mix

What we love

  • Home Appetit’s most popular spice blend
  • Pairs well with virtually any meat, any vegetable
  • Comes in a tin, keeping it fresh longer

What to know

  • Contains (a modest amount of) salt

This blend of onion, garlic, sea salt, four types of peppercorns, lemon peel, and rosemary is extra special for two more reasons: it’s hand-ground and pre-toasted. Chef Hogan has given it exact grinding specifications that leave in texture and character. And toasting brings out and develops the essential oils and flavors.
